Each version of the Notion sensor looks similar and both are capable of the same tasks. However, there are several differences between each version that are important to note for setup and troubleshooting. Use this information to determine which sensor you have.
Our first generation sensor is about the size of an Oreo, but the second generation is a little bit bigger, about the size of a Chips Ahoy! This allows us to fit two lithium AAA batteries in the sensor for improved battery life. To get specific, the second generation sensor is 2.25 inches in diameter, the first generation sensor is 2 inches in diameter.

The second generation sensor is simplified on the outside a bit. On the bottom of the second generation sensor we were able to remove the big brass disc. The first generation sensor still has the brass disc.

We were also able to improve the waterproof rating of the second generation sensor to IP67. This means that the new sensor has a neoprene seal around the base to protect it from the elements
