Getting The Most Out Of Works With Nest
The integration between Nest and Notion can accomplish two different tasks:
- We can combine your Nest thermostat and Notion temperature sensors to provide the average temperature for your home
- We can alert you if a door is left open and your thermostat is still heating or cooling your house
There are several cases where you might want a sensor not to contribute to this information. Suppose you have a sensor on your garage door. You want to know when your garage opens and closes, but the temperature in your garage is probably not always the same as the temperature in the rest of your home. Also, if your garage door is left open while your thermostat is running, it won't affect the efficiency of your HVAC system in the rest of your house. This means that information from your garage sensor does not need to participate in Works With Nest. Works With Nest is versatile and flexible to account for this.
How To Change Participating Sensors
Follow the steps below to change which sensors are included in Works With Nest. The same instructions work for either task:
- From the home page, click either the Home Climate or Energy Waste task
- Scroll down and click "Participating Sensors"
- Select the sensors that you would like to be included and click "save"
My Sensors Aren't Listed As Participating Sensors
If one of your sensors isn't shown in the list of participating sensors, then it does not have a task that Works With Nest. The Home Climate task requires your sensors to have a temperature task installed. A temperature task can be added to any other task without conflict, so you can edit that accordingly. The Energy Waste task requires a sensor that can determine when a door is opened or closed. This means that sliding window and sliding door sensors do not Work With Nest. How To Make A Sensor Eligible For Works With Nest
For a sensor to be eligible for the Works With Nest integration, it must have either a hinged motion task or a temperature task. Click here for instructions on how to change the tasks on your sensors.
