Best Place For Your Bridge During Bridge Set Up
Generally we suggest starting with your bridge in the same room as your WiFi router. Bridge setup requires a lot of information to pass between your bridge and our cloud servers, and this will ensure your bridge can maintain a stable connection during setup.
Best Place For Your Bridge For Normal Use
After your bridge is set up, it can be moved around anywhere in your home as long as the bridge can connect to your WiFi router. We recommend placing the bridge in a central location of your home.
If your home is larger than 2000 square feet and you have a Gen 2 Notion Bridge, you may want to move your bridge around while you set up your sensors. Plug the bridge in less than 15 feet from where you want to install the sensor. Wait for the LED on the bridge to turn green and then scan the QR code on the sensor. Do this for each sensor one at a time to ensure that calibration goes smoothly.
Once your bridge and sensors are set up and calibrated correctly, you can choose where you want to leave the bridge in your home. The bridge should be central to all of your sensors while limiting the possibility for interference.
Tip: Make sure the bridge is not plugged in behind things like your fridge, TV, or dresser, and do your best to limit the number of walls and doors in the way. If you find that your sensors have a hard time staying connected to your bridge, but they automatically reconnect on their own after a few minutes, the most likely culprit is interference.
Wireless Interference and How To Troubleshoot Low Signal Strength
Finding the best place for your bridge may take some trial and error, but usually all it takes is moving your bridge to a few different spots. Even small changes can make big differences.
To check the signal strength of your sensors...
1. From the Notion app on your phone, tap System
2. Tap the Sensors tab at the top
3. The more circles filled in, the better the signal strength available to the sensor
